I love going thru websites over the lunch hour and checking out different dogs, wishing I had unlimited funds to acquire a few top dogs :) Unfortunately I don't speak too many foreign languages, so some websites are tough to navigate.

But... if money were no issue, and any dog in the world was available to you, what (living) dog would you get, and why?

I think I would get Luder von der Goldquelle. For no real reason other than cosmetics, although I'm sure she's a nice dog. But she reminds me so much of the first dog we had. And Chunky would love a new distraction while he does long downs

Aside from my 'best' boy, Roman, he passed the day before Easter at 10 1/2; I would take Ambassador von Shambala, any day of the week & twice on Sunday! :)

well this would require magic instead of money but honestly if "I" could have any dog in the world right this second... I'd want a reincarnation of my Molly girl and if I could have two, a reincarnation of my Bea girl as well.

(Moderator says: Tommy, if you felt the need to say "this is not a litter announcement", then you probably knew I would think it was a litter announcement, and it was pretty much that, so I removed it, sorry, I've struck again. To all of you who think I only pick on you for announcements, rest assured I pick on almost everybody who posts litter ads. Hardly anybody gets it right the first time and some never do get it right.)

though I would need to see them both in person first, I really think for males I would love to bring home Pit vom Hirtenplatz and Benno vom Schloss Hexental. I love both of their conformation, muscle tone and working ability, especially Benno being a grandson of Jenecks Wotan.. powerful powerful dogs

For females, there is no doubt in my mind I would take Kingston's grandmother, Oxana vom Hause Neubrand. Unbelievably gorgeous female and I've only heard amazing things about her working ability. Not to mention she's produced Valentino, Ives, Ivett, Enrico, Major, etc..

Dave...i was gonna say Oxana... i had daughter from Z litter.....Fax x Oxana.....i also have two granddaughters both with working titles...one much better than the other....i love the lines and the attitude!!

I really like Oxana as well and I would bring her into my kennel in a heart beat!!!

I think for me..females would be a better choice in this topic due to the fact you could go to any male you want....

not much better of a bitch than Oxana!!

Well if I was going by structure and type, I would choose Carter's Noble Shaka Zulu. He is one of a handful of Rottweilers that have ever caught my eye and that's in AKC AND German Style events. Superb structure and tons of breed type... I got a chance to see him a few different occasions. Was also a fan of Astor v Haus Fritz. That was a beautifully put together dog as well. I have video of him somewhere .... his movement was absolutely phenomenal and he was top ranked in Breed points for Rottweilers (AKC).

I would bring my Ben back to life. He was a once in a lifetime dog and the complete package, in my opinion. I still miss him. :(

I am also enjoying this topic about current dogs. :D

They seemed to do very well with that whole O litter. Chunky is an Orlando and Odin grandson. I'd be happy to go back to either one :)

As Lucy said about her past dog, I would love a past dog of mine, Filou vom Sonnehugel. If I were to want a female I'd love Meggy vom Herrenholz, and a male that I would love would be Darius Aus der Hege. Nice thread idea, since no answer can be wrong and cool to see what dogs are special to others on here.

Speaking of the Sonnenhugel dogs, I would have loved to have owned Gauna vom Sonnenhugel. Now that was a beautiful dog!

Yes he (Guana) was, even with the different color eyes situation while the judge kept his sunglasses on  ! He was Fe's 1/2 brother through his mother Farah v d Furstenweissen.

Bogus rap. The eye color thing. That was one of the nicest dogs I have ever seen. Also had great temperment.
Here is some video of him that I shot in Chicago where he went on to become seiger.

I had Gauna for the last 6 months before he went back to Italy, I also used him for two litters... Super dog!

Bruno was lucky to get him as a young dog.

Based on show ratings, the Male abroad I would want is Exel Vom Weissen Schwan.

U.S. Achievements: Wasko

Best producers who seem to replicate themselves: Ambassador V. Shambala or Freud od Dragvicevica.

I would be happy with any of the 4!

Mike and I both agree that we'd be hard pressed to think of a dog we would enjoy sharing our lives with more than our own Yngo. Now if he could just stick around for about five more years, all of our dreams would be realized :D .

If I had to think of dogs owned by others, the following two come to mind:
Janet Noble's Abbo... Multi V-1 Select Ch Blitz vom Van Haus UDT, SchHIII, FH, IPOIII, AD, BH, CGC, VX
Dick and Vee Wayburn's Mirko... KS'83 BIS/BISS Ch Mirko Vom Steinkopf CDX, SchHIII, FH, IPOIII, RTD

There are many dogs out there that I've admired, but meeting these two set the bar very high for me in terms of what I expect a Rottweiler to be. Over the years, I have seen thousands upon thousands of Rottweilers, yet not one has been in the same league with Abbo and Mirko.

Edited to say: I just re-read the thread and saw that we're only supposed to be discussing living dogs. I guess I'll have to settle for Yngo then haha.

Of current dogs, I'm going with a dog I've never seen but have been told very good things about. Quex Vom Kummelsee, at just 2 years of age he just might be destined to be a great one.

I know I am biased, but I would give all the toes on my left foot to have a 3 year old Eros! I think he could have done better and I would be so proud to accomplish half of what he has! But since I can't have him, I will be happy with his "mini me". Turk von der Amell has the same head and breed type as Eros and I couldn't be happier, lets see how he looks in a couple years.......

This is a great topic :)

However when it comes to the overall temperment and working ability, I am very satisfied with my Fiona,Basra,Emmi, Mick and Kimon. Like Lucy mentioned, if we can bring our dogs back from that crazy party they are having up in the sky, I would have to put my Sch3 female Danja in this discussion, she was awesome and definetly would have given Unja a run for her money:)

Agreed, great topic ............

There seems to be a fair number of people that prefer their own dog over anything else. That is great that you think so highly of your own dogs. I would like to see some working videos of these dogs which you prefer over anything else that is out there.

I would choose between Hajo vom Hause Porthun or Baro vom Schwingbach.

Both dogs are magnificent looking animals. And, they are two of the strongest working dogs I have ever seen (and taken bites from)...I would put them head to head against any dog of any breed any day.

Probably the best combintions of beauty and power one could ever ask for.

Thanks A.J. I have never met you and am pleasantly surprised at your comments. I had a short video recently taken of Hajo. I have not filmed any of my dogs for a long time and am not familiar with the new camera. My wife is always complaining that there are lots of pictures and videos of me with our kids and not many of her. There is a bunch of family stuff on the camera that I do not want to erase or download. I picked up a memory card/chip for filming dog stuff but the video seems to have only downloaded on the camera and not the card/chip. Once I get if figurued I will post some video to youtube.

There are a bunch of people at a GSSCC club I visited that think the same thing. Their helper work and training really sucked.

A.J., I haven't heard of the two dogs you mentioned. Where are they located?

Chuck, I mentioned my old dog, Ben, because I believe he was one in a million. I don't take any credit for his accomplishments; I was just fortunate to own him. That was before I noticed the topic said "living dogs". :D However, if anyone on this forum knows of a dog that looked as good as Ben and also worked as well as Ben, I'd LOVE to hear about it as a potential stud dog! Ben did not produce himself in looks, but he definitely produced some good working dogs. I don't have any video of him, but I can give you names of many helpers who worked him and said he was the complete package.

Again, this is a great topic!

I would make room for any of these current males..

Ety vom Herrenholz
Gino von der Berghalbinsel
Atos von der Mattesburg
Pit vom Hirtenplatz
Vico vom Kressbach
Ives vom Hause Neubrand
Erik vom Heidebären
Ben vom Langen Grund
Filou vom Remmelshof
Hutch vom Krabbennest
Quantas vom Jagersburger Forst
Ambassador von Shambala
Groll von den Hassberghohen

Many current excellent dogs, too many to mention..

3 USA-bred dogs I recently worked and liked:

Atom von Borrell
Chubaka vom Waldbach
Force vom Waldbach

All 'V' dogs with temperment.

Lucy your dog is on ADRK videos. I saw him work years ago. He was a nice dog.

Chuck, your boy has a very impressive pedigree & sounds just like a dog I would love too! I ,like Lucy, completely missed the living part. I would then be ecstatic to hold the leash to Darius's Great Grandson Drago vom Atzelgift one of my favorite dogs I have ever seen in person with Hajo's father Max in a close second!

Drago is a nice dog himself but a fair number of people are disappointed with his offspring.

True...or I would have bred my girl to him. I have heard he has produced some dogs like himself (in conversations with helpers that have worked them), but like everything there are always other factors to take into consideration. Still the power & attitude he brings was amazing to see. I do hope to see your new addition sometime...congrats!

Lucy - Chuck Ross is now the lucky owner of Hajo vom Hause Porthun. He came from the vom Hause Porthun Kennel in Germany - http://www.rottweiler-porthun.de/index.htm

Baro coms from the vom Schwingbach kennel of Ralf Paul - http://dog-net.de/baro_vom_schwingbach.html
